Bojan Bogdanovic, a reliable scoring threat and seasoned forward known for his sharpshooting and basketball IQ, has officially announced his retirement from the NBA at the age of 36. The veteran made the heartfelt announcement on Sunday, citing a lingering left foot injury that ultimately forced him to step away from the game.
“After more than two decades in the game, the moment has arrived to say goodbye to basketball," Bogdanovic wrote. “Not just as a sport but as a part of who I am."
The Croatian star spent 10 productive seasons in the NBA, earning a reputation as one of the league’s most consistent perimeter scorers. His best season came in 2022–23 with the Detroit Pistons, where he averaged a career-high 21.6 points per game. Despite playing on a rebuilding roster, Bogdanovic stood out as a veteran presence and a go-to offensive option.
Throughout his NBA journey, Bogdanovic played for five different teams—Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz, and Detroit Pistons—making the playoffs seven times. Known for his versatility on offense and willingness to take big shots, he was a key contributor on several postseason teams.
Bogdanovic's basketball career stretches well beyond the NBA. Before joining the league in 2014, he was already a seasoned international player in Europe, with successful stints in the EuroLeague and with the Croatian national team, where he consistently led in scoring during international competitions.
As he steps away from professional basketball, Bojan Bogdanovic leaves behind a legacy of professionalism, clutch performances, and an unwavering dedication to the game. His presence on and off the court will be missed by teammates, coaches, and fans alike.
Thank you, Bojan, for a decade of excellence in the NBA and a lifetime of basketball passion.
